PREPARATIONS for the Homecoming Comedy Night show are at an advanced stage as the headline comedian from the United States, Alfred Kainga, jetted into the country last week ahead of the event scheduled for next Friday at the Reps Theatre in Harare.
Kainga will stage a stand-up comedy skit on home soil for the first time since he relocated to the Unites States 16 years ago.
The comedian said he is thrilled to be performing before his family since he started doing comedy professionally.
“I am home, yes, and I am so excited to be here. This is my first show in Zimbabwe since I have been doing comedy for the past 12 years professionally,” he said.
“This is also my first time to get the chance to perform before my friends and family, so I am really enthusiastic about this show because they always used to say I was really funny but they have never seen me performing.”
Long John, who will share the stage with Kainga, arrived from his base in Johannesburg yesterday. The two comedians will perform alongside local act, Q Dube.
Organisers of the event said they will also have two surprise acts on the show, which will be held courtesy of Xtratime Entertainment.
The organisers have in the past brought in Anne Kansiime, Goliaths and Goliaths, Barry Hilton, John Vlismas and Cotilda Inapo.
