Zimbabwean defender Erick Chipeta has signed a two-year contract extension with Chippa United.
Chipeta’s previous deal was set to expire at the end of the season.
“The club has a two-year option,” says a high-ranking official at the Chilli Boys.
“We exercised it today and he is staying with the club.”
The 25-year-old has started 13 of United’s 14 league games this season, helping the club reach seventh spot in the standings.
Chipet’s commitment to the Port Elizabeth-based outfit comes as welcome news following the recent departure of star attackers Mark Mayamabela and William Twala.
Mayambela has joined SuperSport United, while Twala linked up with Kaizer Chiefs last week.
