Deiner said this on the sidelines of the ZFW castings where a dozens of aspiring models came in from different parts of the city to try their luck on the prestigious fashion show.
“To stage the best fashion week, one does not need the best equipment but a team of dedicated people who are able to produce the most out of what they have. This country has an excellent team with raw designers whose work has been improving over the years. The rest of the world is now looking to Africa as its standards are on the rise,” he said.
Creative Designs has had a vast of experience working in different fashion shows in Africa, among them Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week franchise, Namibia Fashion Week, Cameroon Fashion Week and Angola Fashion Week.
The castings went well with the scores of aspiring ramp models converging on Sam Levy’s Village where they underwent intensive screening.
With the help of internationally acclaimed creative director Jennifer Deiner, the models were stripped of their heels and scrutinised from head to toe. They had a mini show were they also analysed on how they would look on the ramp.

Deiner also advised those who did not make it to the final line-up not to despair but try other avenues.
“Height is important when it comes to runway modelling. This is simply because when outfits fit better when the model has long legs. When a model is short, it just won’t work because they do not give flow to the clothes. There is jagged movement that you do not see if a model has the appropriate height. All those who could not make it, however, can always try out other forms of modelling,” he said.
The founder and executive director of Zimbabwe Fashion Week, Priscilla Chigariro- Gessen, also promised to feature a number of beauty queens in the line-up. “We will also incorporate well-known beauty queens but only those who adhere to the set standards of the show. No one is getting special treatment as we do not want to compromise on the quality of the show at the end of the day,” she said.
