South African fashion designer Gavin Rajah will headline this year’s Zimbabwe Fashion Week on Saturday 31st August 2013 @21.00. Rajah has featured in numerous international publications such as Vogue, Los Angeles Times, London Sunday Times, London Financial Times, Harper’s & Queen, L’Officiel, Icon, Milano Finanza Luna, Avant Garde, Uomo Collezioni, The Face, Donna and Citizen. In addition to this, he curated an exhibition on Traditional Art and Crafts in the United States of America for award winning movie director Steven Spielberg.
Gavin Rajah will not be the first big-name South African designer to showcase at Zimbabwe Fashion Week, following the presentation of David Tlale’s collection at last year’s event.
Rajah has dressed some of the worlds most sought after celebrities and personalities who include: Beyonce, Celine Dion, Jodie Kidd, Cameron Diaz, Naomi Campbell, Paris Hilton and Tina Turner. His collections have retailed in some of the
world’s most exclusive and fashionable boutiques and stores. The serial entrepreneur has also designed exquisite jewellery collections for De Beers as well as The Tanzanite Foundation. In 2005, Rajah featured in the hit reality series America’s Next Top Model by Mogul Tyra Banks as well as UK’s Fashion Avenue by Jodie Kidd. In 2007, he was appointed to be a judge for Holland’s Next Top Model.
Rajah has been the only African to speak at the Global Fashion Conference in Milan and his paper on “Creating an Identity in Fashion: South Africa the future of fashion?” made headlines in the Wall St Journal and Milano Finanza.
Zimbabwe Fashion Week 2013 will be held at Sam Levy’s Village,
Borrowdale, Harare from the 29th – 31st of August.
