Thousands of people took to the streets on the 18th November 2017 to celebrate the army takeover and urge President Robert Mugabe to step down.
They marched towards the State House demanding the resignation of Mugabe.On Wednesday, the army intervened after President Mugabe sacked his deputy Emmerson Mnangagwa, paving the way for his wife Grace as his potential successor.
State TV said that, President Mugabe, who is confined to his house, was to meet army chiefs on Sunday,19 November.The march was supported by the army and members of the governing Zanu-PF party.
The military says it will advise the public on the outcome of the talks “soon”.In what has been a termed a” bloodless transition” the march has been peaceful, yet powerful with protestors happily posing for pictures with the army.
The international community has also showed support for the end of Mugabe’s reign, with solidarity marches being seen in Johannesburg and London and other parts of the world.
