Bulawayo to Kezi (KoBeula) » 200km of Culture and Heritage!

About Magriza Made Me Cook: The channel seeks to document and serve Africa’s diverse food culture, one dish at a time as well as air other cultural and traditional stories that have never been documented. Magriza is slang for uGogo (Grandmother in isiNdebele).

In this video we escape to Zimbabwe’s south-western area where adventure, culture, and solitude lie scattered among Chief Malaba’s area. We get to learn about the BaBirwa People of Zimbabwe, eat delicious food, witness the proximity of the Republic of Botswana and its inhabitants. In this documentary expect to see 200 kilometres of culture, beautiful scenery, a Yeoville sign-post, heritage songs, and discovering that the term Kezi is a corrupted name for Kgetsi – which means bag in the SeBirwa language.

Original Heritage

WHO?
An African focused clothing brand based in England, United Kingdom. While our products are the result of both Western and African trends and cultures. Our inspiration today lies within the hopes of a better Africa tomorrow. Our products give individuals the chance to pay homage to one or more of the 54 sovereign African countries while contributing to the provision of education for children in Africa.
WHY?
Africa is the richest continent in the world, #Fact! Not only is it the only self-sustaining continent because of its vast array of natural resources but, it is also the place of human origin. The mother of civilisation as we know it. However, the reality on the ground in no way reflects these facts. With that said and not much being done, our mission is to eradicate poverty in Africa one child at a time through the provision of their education. 10% of every product we sell goes towards this cause.
WHEN?
February 2017 saw the ORIGINAL HERITAGE brand and online-store launch. Products for other African countries will be released bi-monthly, subject to demand. We have an ambitious vision for both our future and that of Africa. So we are always on the look out for people from different walks of life we can work with…
…Poets, marketers, models, artists, academics, stylists, photographers, athletes, charity fundraisers, online bloggers, lawyers, speakers, event organisers and more.

The Rad Black Kids

Who are we?

The Rad Black Kids are quintessentially all of us that don’t feel represented by the monolithic views that we are painted over with a broad brush. The need for this brand grew out of a desire from the founder to see faces that reflect his in action sports. He began through building longboards, simply because he couldn’t afford one, so his background in architecture made this possible. The Rad Black Kids initially began building longboards with riders in mind by utilizing the best “rider oriented” boards: Using rider’s choice trucks, wheels, bearings, and true rider quality decks. In 2008 after spending 5 winters snowboarding most weekends in the winter, summer was a chore as there was nothing to do in his small Idaho town. He didn’t have the money to purchase a board, so instead he built a repurposed old board out of a 1996, somehow still ridable deck.

6 years later, in 2014, when the opportunity arose, The Rad Black Kids was established, with durable, weather resistant (inspired by womens’ purses) longboards as the initial product offering. As time went by, and longboards flew off the shelves The Rad Black Kids took the same principles of quality, durability and longevity, and applied them to our first clothing collection in 2015. With each season, the goal of each collection was to create immersive story telling experience. The founder felt as though the garments could tell stories from his home country of Zimbabwe, and stories of Africans in the diaspora. Each piece could be an “soldier” on this crusade of shattering monoliths.

The Rad Black Kids has now evolved to a brand that is not only better at narrative based product design, but now all our products are now made in Portugal. Sustainability and reduction of carbon emissions are paramount to The Rad Black Kids. We have been planting a tree for every product we sell since our inception in 2014, but now, due to the catastrophic climate emergency we now plant 20 trees for each product sold!
