Young Zimbabwe spent some time with one of the biggest producers in the game and known for producing big anthems that make the world dance. The coolest thing about it all is that the boy is Zimbabwean and if you don’t know who we are talking about, here is your opportunity to learn and get inspired. But most importantly become a Fan of his body of work. 

Q: Who is Rymez?

A: I’m a music Producer born in Kariba Zimbabwe, grew up in the UK & have been Producing for 15 years now. 

 

Q: What’s the meaning behind your name?

A: I used to love rapping when I was in high school & some of friends in boarding school called me Rymez and it stuck with me haha.

 

Q: What is your musical back ground?

A: I was always curious about how music was made ever since I was a child, my parents had a really big music collection that I used to go through & I’ve been mesmerised ever since. So I did what every other teenager would do & headed to YouTube music production Tutorials and learnt from the likes of Ryan Leslie’s beat making videos.

Q: Do you have a favourite piece of music that you worked on?

A: I would have to say Hurtin Me by Stefflon Don & French Montana because it was the quickest record I’ve ever made and didn’t know it was going to do so well.

 

Q: What other producers, songwriters and/or artists do you see as your primary inspirations?

A: I’m a huge fan of the pioneers of R&B and Hip Hop Production, the likes of Timbaland, The Neptunes, Teddy Riley, Brian Michael Cox, Dr Dre etc 

 

Q: How do you like to spend your free time not working on projects or taking care of business matters?

A: Outside of music I love cooking and trying new recipes. Fingers crossed I can open a restaurant in the next few years.

 

Q: What’s your future plans/ or what would you want your legacy to be?

A: I’m currently working on a Album that’s going have collaborations with artists from around the world connecting on features. I’m really excited to show the world what’s I’ve been working on.

 

Q: What advice would you give a person trying to make it in the entertainment industry?

A: It’s really important to network and have good relationships. Also never burn bridges haha
